Neville: Hails Mourinho but insists Fergie not ready to retire<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Jose Mourinho has all the credentials needed to manage the Old Trafford club.<\/p>\n

But the former England defender has stopped short of tipping the Real Madrid coach to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ferguson, 69, has a one year rolling contract and shows no signs of calling time on his 25-year United reign.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neville believes finding the right replacement when the Scot does decide to quit is the toughest challenge facing the club.<\/p>\n

He said: “I really like Mourinho. I think he’s a fantastic manager.<\/p>\n

“His team get results and he does what he has to do to get results.<\/p>\n

“This guy has won European Cups. He’s a serial winner. He knows how to win games.<\/p>\n

“There are many good managers out there and it won’t just be him on the cards (to replace Ferguson) I’m sure.”<\/p>\n

Forever<\/h5>\n

But the 36-year-old, who recently hung up his boots to concentrate on working as a Sky Sports pundit, reckons Ferguson is not ready to retire yet.<\/p>\n

He added: “He just feels the job is never complete. As a United fan the job at United is never complete – it just goes on forever.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
