DISTURBED by\u00a0 the recurring violence that claims the lives of non-indigenes during ethnic clashes, the Bishop of Church of Nigerian Anglican Communion, Akure Diocese, Bishop Michael Ipinmoye has advocated for regional posting of corps\u00a0 members by the\u00a0 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).<\/p>\n

Addressing newsmen in Akure to mark the tenth year of his Episcopacy, Ipinmoye said that the killing of non-indigenes during communal clashes or the post-election crisis has called\u00a0 to question the posting of corps members to serve in other states.<\/p>\n

According to him, southerners should be made to serve in any part of the south while the northerners should be made to serve their fatherland in any state in the north if that would stop unnecessary killing and wasting of innocent souls.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe killing of the young and promising youths in the northern part of the country under the guise of political protest has called to question the aim of setting up the scheme,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody is happy with the killing in the north. Although we are one country, our ideologies are different. We do not want our children to be killed in the north again.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe purpose of the NYSC scheme has been defeated by the killing in the North. The Federal Government should make sure our youths who are the\u00a0 future of this country are\u00a0 protected from the orgy of violence in the North.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the tenth\u00a0 year anniversary of the bishop, the chairman of the anniversary committee, Senator Nimbe Farukanmi, said the church has grown tremendous in strength with branches springing up in various parts of the diocese.<\/p>\n

Farunkanmi pointed out that the church branches which numbered\u00a0 58 ten years ago have now grown to become 145 while the study of the Bible course had taken root in the church.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
