QPR have been confirmed as Championship title-winners after the Football Association revealed they will not face a points deduction.<\/p>\n
The club were found guilty of two of the seven charges they faced over the registration of Argentinian midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, but will not be docked points.<\/p>\n
But the champions have been fined \u00a3875,000 by the Football Association.<\/p>\n
“The club were found to have been in breach of FA Rule E3, and to have also been in breach of FA Football Agents Regulations, A1,” read an FA statement.<\/p>\n
“The commission found that in respect of the breach of FA Rule E3 the club be fined \u00a3800,000. In respect of the breach of FA Football Agents Regulations, A1, the club be fined a further \u00a375,000.”<\/p>\n
The Hoops gave themselves an unassailable five-point lead with victory over Watford last week but had been left sweating on their status as champions as they awaited the FA’s verdict in the case.<\/p>\n
QPR were charged with breaching strict third-party ownership rules over the transfer of Faurlin from Instituto in 2009.<\/p>\n
The Loftus Road side denied all seven of the charges facing them at the hearing by four-man independent regulatory tribunal, which started on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
While the decision was initially scheduled to be confirmed yesterday, the FA postponed the announcement until today, the final day of the season.<\/p>\n
The Football League also announced the west London side would be presented with the Championship title after their game with Leeds today if no decision had been forthcoming before the match.<\/p>\n
An FA statement read: “The Regulatory Commission hearing charges brought by The FA against Queens Park Rangers FC wish to announce that although two of the charges have been found to be proved there will be no points deduction made from Queens Park Rangers FC in this season or the next.”<\/p>\n
QPR manager Neil Warnock paid tribute to his team for managing to concentrate on playing rather than be distracted by the off-field affairs.<\/p>\n
He told BBC1’s Football Focus: “How they have managed to focus with all the rubbish some of the tabloids report, people speaking out when they shouldn’t have done, didn’t know their facts…they coped well.<\/p>\n
“We haven’t said anything, we just kept our counsel and did it on the pitch.<\/p>\n
“I can’t praise them high enough although it’s not really sunk in at the moment, it’s just a great feeling.”<\/p>\n
He added: “It’s just a relief to know we are the champions. We have been the champions. But when you can’t answer back it’s horrible.”<\/p>\n
Warnock, who will now have his second spell in the top flight following his one-season stay with Sheffield United in 2006-07, was always confident the Hoops would not be docked points.<\/p>\n
“Absolutely,” he said. “The barrister said to me we’ve breached a couple of regulations.<\/p>\n
“He thought they were technical and couldn’t see any points deduction whatsoever.<\/p>\n
“He thought there may be a heavy fine for one and a minor fine for the other.<\/p>\n
“He was involved in certain cases and he said it was nothing like those cases.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
