{"id":419042,"date":"2011-05-07T06:45:00","date_gmt":"2011-05-07T06:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/07\/liverpools-pursuit-of-jose-enrique-boosted-by-newcastle-united-interest-in-paul-konchesky\/"},"modified":"2011-05-07T06:45:00","modified_gmt":"2011-05-07T06:45:00","slug":"liverpools-pursuit-of-jose-enrique-boosted-by-newcastle-united-interest-in-paul-konchesky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/07\/liverpools-pursuit-of-jose-enrique-boosted-by-newcastle-united-interest-in-paul-konchesky\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool&#8217;s pursuit of Jose Enrique boosted by Newcastle United interest in Paul Konchesky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<h4>7 May 2011 07:45:00<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"71.9320193081\">\n<div readability=\"11.0829268293\">\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Jos\u00e9 Enrique (Getty Images) \" src=\"http:\/\/u.goal.com\/115300\/115374_news.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 Enrique (Getty Images)<\/p>\n<h4>Related Links<\/h4>\n<h4>Teams<\/h4>\n<h4>Players<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p><span readability=\"43.5394736842\"><strong>EXCLUSIVE<\/strong><br \/>By <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/news\/3447\/greg-stobart\">Greg Stobart<\/a> | Northern Correspondent<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/teams\/england\/98\/liverpool\">Liverpool<\/a>&#8216;s chances of signing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/teams\/england\/99\/newcastle-united\">Newcastle United<\/a> star <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/people\/spain\/10518\/jos%C3%A9-enrique-s%C3%A1nchez-d%C3%ADaz\">Jose Enrique<\/a> have been boosted after <a href=\"https:\/\/goal.com\/en-gb\/people\/england\/10047\/alan-pardew\">Alan Pardew<\/a> made it known he would be interested in signing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goal.com\/en-gb\/people\/england\/1353\/paul-konchesky\">Paul Konchesky<\/a> as a replacement for the Spaniard.<\/p>\n<p>Enrique is Liverpool&#8217;s first choice to solve the club&#8217;s problem left-back position in the summer and Newcastle&#8217;s interest in Reds defender Konchesky raises the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal.<\/p>\n<p>The two clubs are yet to open negotiations but Newcastle are privately resigned to losing the \u00a38 million-rated man, who has just one year left on his contract and is also attracting interest from Arsenal and European giants AC Milan and Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n<p>Reds manager Kenny Dalglish has also been keeping tabs on Arsenal full-back Gael Clichy and Everton&#8217;s Leighton Baines, but Enrique has always been his top target following his consistent displays throughout this season.<\/p>\n<p>Enrique, 25, has said he will be \u201chappy\u201d to leave Newcastle this summer and is ready to push on following a successful four years at the club following his \u00a36.3m move from Villarreal.<\/p>\n<p>Pardew, the Newcastle boss, is preparing for next season without Enrique and has identified Konchesky as a player who could fill the role.<\/p>\n<p>The pair worked together at West Ham and Pardew still believes the 29-year-old can be a solid Premier League performer despite a nightmare spell at Anfield following his \uffe14m switch from Fulham last summer.<\/p>\n<p>The former England international joined Nottingham Forest on loan in January and returned to Liverpool this week for the club&#8217;s final three games of the season.
