{"id":418985,"date":"2011-05-07T00:59:32","date_gmt":"2011-05-07T00:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/07\/fayemi-weeps-at-burial-service-for-slain-nysc-member\/"},"modified":"2011-05-07T00:59:32","modified_gmt":"2011-05-07T00:59:32","slug":"fayemi-weeps-at-burial-service-for-slain-nysc-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/07\/fayemi-weeps-at-burial-service-for-slain-nysc-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Fayemi weeps at burial service for slain NYSC member"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"65\">\n<p>Governor\u00a0 Kayode Fayemi of\u00a0 Ekiti State yesterday wept uncontrollably during the funeral service for Mr Seun Adewunmi, a\u00a0 member\u00a0 of the NYSC killed\u00a0 in Bauchi during the post-election violence.<\/p>\n<p>Adewunmi, 27, a\u00a0 Political Science graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, hailed from Ogotun-Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government area of\u00a0 the\u00a0 state.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased,\u00a0 who was deployed to Giade Local Government of\u00a0 Bauchi State for the NYSC scheme was one of\u00a0 the nine corps members killed during the post-election violence.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of\u00a0 Nigeria (NAN)\u00a0 reported that Fayemi wept when he inspected Adewunmi\u2019s\u00a0 remains\u00a0 with\u00a0 members of the State Executive Council during a state burial organised at the Government House,\u00a0 Ado-Ekiti.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, who addressed the gathering, promised that the state government would name a monument after the deceased and sponsor the education of Adewunmi\u2019s siblings.<\/p>\n<p>He further said: \u201cWhat offence did Seun commit? Has he committed an offence for answering a national call by going for service?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeun even went further by answering the call for additional national calls by joining other youth corps members to conduct a free, fair and credible elections for Nigerians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He asked the Federal Government to bring to justice the\u00a0 irate youths who perpetrated the killings in the overall interest of\u00a0 the nation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
