Teachers of the Odumase Okanta Presbyterian Basic School in the East Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region are facing accommodation difficulties that make them walk several kilometres to school.<\/p>\n

Mr Owusu-Adjei Nattor, Assistant head teacher, has, therefore, appealed to the Education Directorate in the Municipality to construct teachers\u2019 quarters in the town to promote effective teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

Mr Nattor told the Ghana News Agency at Okanta, near Odumase, that there were not enough rental houses so almost all the teachers were living out of the town.<\/p>\n

This is because buildings in the school\u2019s environment were designed and constructed as family homes.<\/p>\n

Mr Nattor explained that only storage rooms or teenagers\u2019 rooms were sometimes available and these were small places not convenient for couples or tenants with children.<\/p>\n

The school, built in 1946 by the community, has a population of 300.<\/p>\n
