Paul McCartney and his girlfriend of four years, Nancy Shevell, are engaged.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 68-year-old musician met Nancy, 51, an American businesswoman, in The Hamptons during the summer of 2007 before his divorce from Heather Mills was actually finalised.<\/p>\n

The pair have been said by friends to be the ‘perfect couple’ with one telling People Magazine: ‘They have the right chemistry.’<\/p>\n

‘They’re both cool, chilled out and optimistic.’<\/p>\n

Nancy, the vice president of a family-owned transportation conglomerate, also reportedly gets on well with Paul’s five children – Heather, 48, Mary, 41, Stella, 39, James, 33, and Beatrice, seven.<\/p>\n

The couple were recently spotted out together on the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last Tuesday.<\/p>\n

This will be the third wedding for former Beatle Sir Paul.<\/p>\n

He was married to Linda McCartney from 1969 until her death from breast cancer in 1998.<\/p>\n

He then married Heather Mills, a former model and philanthropist in 2002.<\/p>\n

The couple separated in May 2006 and were officially divorced in May 2008.<\/p>\n
