H Owusu Acheampong has revealed that he led the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for a meeting with former fFirst Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, to persuade her not to contest President Mills but she refused.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Owusu Acheampong said Mrs. Rawlings&#8217; refusal to withdraw her presidential ambition was due to misinformation her husband received about President Mills\u2019 style of ruling the country.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM on Friday, he downplayed fears that the campaign for the flag bearer had created division in the party describing recent events as normal when two people in the same family covet the same position and assured that the party will reunite after the July Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Enoch Teye Mensah has stated that members of the party are free to support any individual in elections without fear or favour.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Mensah who has declared his support for President Mills&#8217; bid to lead the NDC for the second time said Mrs. Rwalings is not a suitable candidate to present for the Presidential polls in December 2012.<\/p>\n<p>He described President Mills as the spiritual embodiment of the country.<\/p>\n<p>E.T.
