The Ghanaian born surgeon however, has British citizenship and he is being held as such.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened on April 26, 2011 and even though he was due to return to the UK on May 1, only his wife and three children have been allowed to return to the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Nunoo-Mensah the reports say was in the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of the US Cleveland Clinic, which is building a medical centre there.<\/p>\n<p>The reports quoted him as saying, \u201cThe man was following us flashing his lights. I was trying to abide by the speed limit and couldn\u2019t move out of his way. I pulled over when I could but instead of overtaking us, he pulled up alongside, switched the inside light on, rolled down the window and drove in parallel with us for up to a minute. He was looking at me in an intimidating way \u2013 I was quite terrified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI raised both my hands to say, \u2018What do you want?\u2019 but he pulled back [to read the number plate] and then took off and turned right. He alleges I stuck a finger at him but I raised both hands. I am sure he must have seen them at an angle, and that was offensive to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Nunoo-Mensah said the police called him the following day and confiscated his passport.<\/p>\n<p>Without his passport, the reports say he has been unable to get a hotel room and has been sleeping on the office couch of some Ghanaian contacts.<\/p>\n<p>By Emmanuel K.
