Aide to the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams has said they are not the least worried with comments by \u201cappointee delegates\u201d at the just ended official launch of President John Mills for the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n
Mr Adams is neither perturbed about the sprawling crowd that thronged the National Democratic Congress HQ where the president picked his nomination forms and the subsequent mini rally held at the Kuku Hill office of President John Mills.<\/p>\n
Party bigwigs, some of whom are close confidantes of the ex-first family, particularly Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, took turns to pledge their allegiance and unflinching support for President John Mills ahead of the July primaries to elect a flagbearer for the party.<\/p>\n
But Adams told Joy News\u2019 Dzifah Bampoh the NDC delegates are sophisticated enough to read between the lines.<\/p>\n
\u201cNobody is worried about it. It\u2019s an assemblage of appointees who of course are appointee delegates that you would expect to do [what they did].”<\/p>\n
He said however some of the speakers \u201cover did it\u201d, intimating “when they go back into their closet and they begin to listen to themselves they themselves will be wondering whether indeed ‘I said what I said’, knowing the position some of them have stated, albeit privately.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr. Adams also questioned the genuineness of the support and solidarity being trumpeted publicly, saying some DCEs have stated if they are asked to insult Konadu they will do so, but when its time for voting, their vote will be their secret.<\/p>\n
He subtly mocked at some of the officials who turned up at the Mills’ campaign launch describing them as opportunists.<\/p>\n
“I also saw names and persons who for a very long time, especially when the party went into opposition, became sick that they have neck problems, they are taking care of their mothers… and when the party won an election, all of a sudden their neck problem is gone and they have been given all kinds of appointments and they are strong.”<\/p>\n
On the teeming crowd that mobbed the president, the Mr Adams who is also the deputy General Secretary of the NDC said the decision by the president Mills campaign team to pick the nomination form and officially launch the campaign the same day was imprudent.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Nana Konadu decided that on the day she was going to pick forms, she was going to do the launch on that same day you could have seen the same thing happening at the party office but she considered the fact that, that is a street that is used for a lot of commercial activity and that if she didn\u2019t change the day for the launch it meant that many people will be coming from the regions on the day she was going to pick forms and that will be creating inconveniences to travelers and users of the road,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n
He said the Konadu campaign team is also committed to a clean campaign, one devoid of intimidation and underhand dealings.<\/p>\n
