It was a night of fashion at the Met\u2019s Costume Institute Gala on Monday night in New York City, but a few stars took a moment to share their thoughts about the death of Osama bin Laden.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s fantastic,\u201d model Naomi Campbell told CNN. \u201cPresident Obama has done an amazing job by keeping it quiet and coming out and saying this to us now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very, very proud and I have huge respect for President Obama,\u201d she added. \u201cI hope that this will make other people stop speaking badly about him\u2026 he doesn\u2019t have to prove anything to anyone anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
Actress Blake Lively said, \u201cIt\u2019s so incredible, such a wonderful moment for the country,\u201d while \u2018Twilight Saga\u2019 star Ashley Greene remarked, \u201cI think probably like the rest of America, I was kind of stunned but I think it\u2019s great.\u201d<\/p>\n
Actor Josh Duhamel and his wife, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, said they were in separate cities when the news broke, as he was in Los Angeles and she was already in New York.<\/p>\n
\u201cI commend Obama,\u201d Duhamel said. \u201cI really commend those Navy SEALs who had the courage to go in there and do that; those guys are unbelievable.\u201d \u201cI think all the New Yorkers who [lost someone] are very happy,\u201d Fergie said. \u201cJustice was served and although for me it\u2019s hard to praise the death of someone, frankly a lot of people have lost family members and lives and we think of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Duhamel joked that CNN should ask Donald Trump, who stood nearby with his wife Melania. \u201cHe\u2019s gonna want proof,\u201d Duhamel said.<\/p>\n
Trump, whose show \u2018Celebrity Apprentice\u2019 was interrupted by news of the capture, said he and his wife were watching television when they learned of what happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, I thought it was really amazing,\u201d Trump said. \u201cHaving caught this animal was fantastic as far as I was concerned. It\u2019s amazing how long he was able to get away with it but they got him and they did a great job.\u201d<\/p>\n
Singer John Legend said he believed it was a \u201cgood moment for America.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was surreal, it really was,\u201d Legend told CNN. \u201cIt was like a mix of emotions, because it was like disbelief for a second and then just a certain kind of relief and closure and happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n
Late night host Jimmy Fallon, meanwhile, echoed an earlier tweet he\u2019d posted about the news.<\/p>\n
\u201cObama got Osama bin Laden and he also cut off \u2018Celebrity Apprentice\u2019 by 15 minutes, so I think it\u2019s a win-win for Obama,\u201d Fallon said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
