Residents had to evacuate flooded homes yesterday morning after the rains that started on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Admininstration police officers reported homes in Likoni had to be evacuated and home owners sought refuge in friends houses, A lorry crossing to the island with sand lost control at the Kenya Ferry Services ramp as the surface was slippery. The lorry submerged into the sea. Efforts to retrieve the truck were still on by yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Provincial police boss Aggrey Adoli said the Bura-Tana and Malindi-Lamu roads were impassable. An eye witness said the roads had been cut off from traffic as a result. Several roads in Kisauni, Bamburi, Likoni, Majengo Mapya and Kisimani were also flooded.<\/p>\n<p>Home owners, in the half-submerged houses, had to move household goods as motorists and passengers endured a rough time trying to paddle through.<\/p>\n<p>At the ferry, a number of hand cart pushers lost their shoes while trying to navigate their carts from the ferry and landed into the sea water.<\/p>\n<p>Adoli told drivers to be careful while driving on the roads, and especially accident-prone spots.<\/p>\n<p>Coast traffic boss Joshua Omukata confirmed one person died in Kilifi after a vehicle which was overtaking another hit a motorcycle rider.
