Ashley Cole’s desire for succcess is as great as ever as Chelsea bid to overhaul Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.<\/p>\n
Cole has been a key member of the Blues side which has clawed back a 15-point deficit on Manchester United, who they will overhaul with victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old has won every honour in the domestic game, including the league and FA Cup multiple times, and is also England’s most capped left-back.<\/p>\n
But he remains as hungry as ever to add to his trophy haul and is confident his team-mates feel the same way.<\/p>\n
He told Chelsea magazine: “When you win things, that’s what makes you realise how good it is.<\/p>\n
“I think the pressure is what drives people on. It makes you want to prove something, to carry on going and keep on winning things. I just want to win anything because I love the feeling.<\/p>\n
“When you stop getting that feeling, I think that’s when a lot of players tend to stop playing football because they haven’t got the desire any more.<\/p>\n
“I’ve still got many years of that desire left in me and the players we have here are all the same as me in that respect.”<\/p>\n
Cole’s mentality is summed up by the fact he has not missed a single one of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season.<\/p>\n
“Last season I was missing training sometimes because of my ankle and then still playing,” he said.<\/p>\n
“But this season I’ve trained every day and played every game and it seems to be all right.<\/p>\n
“It’s not nice to rest sometimes, you lose your momentum, so I want to play every game.”<\/p>\n
Cole is regularly hailed as the best left-back in the world and suggested he is playing better than ever as he prepares to go head to head with United winger Antonio Valencia on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He said: “Now I go into games thinking, ‘Let’s see if you can stop me running’, or, ‘I’m going to make you chase me’, rather than the other way around.<\/p>\n
“Instead of thinking about how they’re going to get past me, they’re going to be looking over their shoulders to see where I am.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
