NEW YORK (AP)\u2014Jurors are deliberating the driving-while-high case against Tennessee Titans<\/a> backup quarterback Chris Simms<\/a>(notes)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Closing arguments finished Wednesday in the misdemeanor case.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old Simms was arrested at a police sobriety checkpoint early on July 1.<\/p>\n

A police officer says Simms was \u201czombie\u201d-like and said he\u2019d been smoking marijuana. Simms denies it. His lawyer says the officer misunderstood him when he said a passenger had been smoking the drug.<\/p>\n

The passenger, Charles Granatell, testified Tuesday that he smoked pot while Simms made a brief stop at another friend\u2019s birthday party. Granatell said he\u2019d never seen Simms smoke marijuana since they met roughly 12 years ago.<\/p>\n

Simms started his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> in 2003. His father is former New York Giants<\/a> quarterback Phil Simms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
