Former Patriotic Front(PF) secretary general Edward Mumbi has revealed that PF leader Michael Sata has plans to deregister the Litunga of Western Province, including three other chiefs, if elected Republican president.<\/p>\n

Mr Mumbi said in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Sata has plans to oust the Litunga, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba, Senior Chief Mukuni of the Toka-Leya people in Southern Province and Senior Chief Mushili of the Lamba people if elected president.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Sata had hinted to him when he was the party’s secretary general that he did not like the Litunga because the Lozi chief was allegedly boastful and wanted to behave as if he was also Republican president.<\/p>\n

“I have been watching and reading articles in The Post about Mr Sata trying to portray that he can be the saviour for the people of Western Province.<\/p>\n

The PF leader has been issuing statements that have portrayed as if he cares for them when in fact not.<\/p>\n

“What I want to tell the nation is that Mr Sata has never liked the people of Western Province, especially the Litunga himself who he told me when I was the party’s secretary general that he(Litunga) will be the first chief to be ousted when he comes into power,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Mumbi said Mr Sata had clearly stated that the reason he opposed the Barotse Agreement (BA) when he worked under second Republican president Frederick Chiluba was because he wanted to punish the Litunga who, according to Mr Sata, was boastful and wanted to behave like a Republican president.<\/p>\n

“I am urging Zambians to carefully analyse Mr Sata’s claim to care for the people of Western Province and the alleged popularity the PF are claiming to have gained in the Province. If indeed Mr Sata and his party have gained popularity in Western Province, why then did he not attend the Kuomboka Ceremony?” wondered Mr Mumbi.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Sata had no respect for traditional ceremonies, especially the Kuomboka ceremony which the PF leader was allegedly planning to ban if elected into office.<\/p>\n

The Kuomboka ceremony, Mr Mumbi said, was one of the reasons Mr Sata hated the Litunga claiming that the ceremony publicised the Lozi chief by attracting wide coverage, including on the international scene, thereby making it look as if the Litunga was more powerful than the Government.<\/p>\n

“These were the things Mr Sata was telling me when I worked with him and I am challenging him to come out and deny.<\/p>\n

I am even challenging Mr Sata to take me to court if indeed what I am saying is not true.<\/p>\n

I am further challenging Mr Sata to a live television debate over this matter,” he said.On Paramount Chief Chitimukulu, Mr Mumbi said Mr Sata had never liked the Bemba chief, hence the reason why the PF was always organising cadres to go and embarrass the chief each time he went to the Lusaka High Court before he could be installed as the paramount chief.<\/p>\n

He said Mr Sata’s open hatred for the paramount chief of the Bemba was evidenced when he went to the extent of insulting the chief and refusing to appear before him when he was summoned to do so by the Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE).<\/p>\n

He challenged Mr Sata to deny the fact that the PF were not organising cadres to go and embarrass Chief Chitimukulu at the Lusaka high Court.<\/p>\n

On Senior Chief Mukuni, Mr Mumbi said the PF leader had never been happy with him because of his stance to support the MMD Government.<\/p>\n
