Staring out seductively from the cover of this month\u2019s Vanity Fair, Katy Perry looks sensationally provocative in a tiny, flesh coloured corset.<\/p>\n

But she says there was a time when her strict Evangelistic upbringing would have harshly condemned such a sexually-charged appearance.<\/p>\n

The E.T singer has opened up about her early family life in an interview with the magazine and has revealed: \u2018I didn\u2019t have a childhood.\u2019<\/p>\n

Growing up in a strict Christian household, she admitted:\u00a0 \u2018I was always scared I was going to get bombed when I was there.\u2019<\/p>\n

She also explained how her childhood was denied of any books and that her mother would only ever read her the Bible.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old explained how her inquisitive side was relentless and says she felt compelled to push the boundaries strict family life.<\/p>\n

She said: \u2018I have always been the kid who’s asked ‘Why?’\u2019<\/p>\n

She explained: \u2018In my faith, you’re just supposed to have faith. At this point, I’m just kind of a drifter. I’m open to possibility.’<\/p>\n

The singer says she is constantly learning and will never stop evolving. She said: \u2018My sponge is so big and wide and I’m soaking everything up and my mind has been radically expanded.\u2019<\/p>\n

Katy has made no secret of her family\u2019s strong faith and strict religious values, but she now says that her parent\u2019s values have now evolved and they have moved on together a family.<\/p>\n

‘We coexist,\u2019 she said. \u2018I don’t try to change them anymore, and I don’t think they try to change me. We agree to disagree.\u2019<\/p>\n

Katy\u2019s mother, Mary Hudson, agrees that they have evolved and changed as parents, and this has made Katy\u2019s career and relationship with Russell a lot more acceptable in their eyes.<\/p>\n

Mary also told Vanity Fair that she and Katy\u2019s father, Keith Hudson, had been forewarned about their daughter\u2019s future rebellion from their beliefs before she was even born.<\/p>\n

Mary said: \u2018The Lord told us when I was pregnant with her that she would do this.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

And it would seem their change in values was perfectly timed after Katy wed British actor and crude comedian, Russell Brand, last year.<\/p>\n

On marrying her former Lothario husband, Katy insists she trusts Russell, 35, completely and doesn\u2019t ever listen to a word that is written in the press about them.<\/p>\n

She is also happy for him to live by his own values and appreciates that, as a couple, they are individuals with their own separate beliefs.<\/p>\n

On making their marriage work, Katy revealed: \u2018I come from a very non-accepting family, but I\u2019m very accepting,\u2019<\/p>\n

She said: \u2018Russell is into Hinduism, and I\u2019m not really involved in it. He meditates in the morning and the evening and I\u2019m starting to do it more because it really centers me.’<\/p>\n

She added: ‘But I just let him be him, and he lets me be me.\u2019<\/p>\n
