\"DrA former General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress, Dr. Josiah Aryeh, has endorsed former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, against President John Evans Atta Mills, in the party\u2019s presidential race.<\/p>\n

Dr. Aryeh, who was forced to resign in 2004 over allegations that he had betrayed the NDC to its opponent the NPP for a mere $3,000, told Citi News he has been invited to speak at Mrs. Rawlings\u2019 official campaign launch at the International Conference Centre on Wednesday May 4.<\/p>\n

He said he will also play a pivotal role in the former first lady\u2019s campaign ahead of the party\u2019s presidential primary scheduled for July 8 \u2013 10 in Sunyani.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will be at her campaign launch to speak because I have an official invitation. I will be vouching for Nana Konadu and it is in that capacity in which I will be speaking as somebody who is very close to the party. It will be untenable for me to speak for her if I don\u2019t support her candidature.<\/p>\n

“I support democracy within the Ghanaian spectrum and in the NDC and I believe that the more competition we have in our politics, the better quality of politicians will emerge.<\/p>\n

“I am going for her against whoever comes forward. I think she has brighter chances for which reason I am supporting her. I think she is fairly capable of holding her own ideas and selling them. And also she is a very effective team player which is the best quality I defend in her\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dr. Aryeh told Citi News he does not care if the camp of President Mills sees him as a political adversary because of his support for Mrs. Rawlings\u2019 presidential ambition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not a parochial minded person and I am not a personality hater. And I think that the personality politics in this country is far too much. If a person speaks for something he believes in right from the scratch, I think that ought to be respected.<\/p>\n

“Whether some people develop animus against me or not, I don\u2019t really care. What I care about is ensuring that I speak the truth and I do so with integrity\u201d Dr. Aryeh said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a former Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah has denied reports that he would be chairing the former first lady\u2019s campaign launch as reported by the Al-Hajj Newspaper.<\/p>\n

Dr. Asamoah mocks the publication and told Citi News he is not aware of any invitation.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody has invited me to chair anything. I am sorry, I have not been invited to chair anything\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n
