{"id":416347,"date":"2011-05-03T13:48:49","date_gmt":"2011-05-03T13:48:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/05\/03\/bradley-takes-up-edinburgh-post\/"},"modified":"2011-05-03T13:48:49","modified_gmt":"2011-05-03T13:48:49","slug":"bradley-takes-up-edinburgh-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/05\/03\/bradley-takes-up-edinburgh-post\/","title":{"rendered":"Bradley takes up Edinburgh post"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div readability=\"96\"><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/52463000\/jpg\/_52463383_michaelbradley.jpg\" width=\"226\" height=\"170\" alt=\"Michael Bradley\" \/> Bradley left Connacht last season<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Michael Bradley is looking forward to beginning his new job as head coach of Edinburgh next season.<\/p>\n<p>The 48-year-old, capped 40 times by Ireland, has most recently been working with the Georgian national side.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited by the challenge of helping the club fulfil its potential,&#8221; said Bradley.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know a lot of the players from my years in the Magners League with Connacht, and I&#8217;m well aware of their talent and capabilities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A scrum-half, Bradley helped Ireland win the Triple Crown in 1985, and played in the 1987 and 1995 World Cups.<\/p>\n<p>He coached the Irish U21 side before spending seven years as director of rugby at Connacht, leaving the Galway outfit at the end of last season.<\/p>\n<p>At Murrayfield, Bradley will replace interim coach Nick Scrivener, who is returning to his native Australia after Friday&#8217;s final Magners League fixture away to Treviso.<\/p>\n<p>Edinburgh go into the match sitting eighth in the league table after a disappointing campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m looking forward to spending the summer getting to know the club and the job, so that we&#8217;re in a position to hit the ground running when the new campaign rolls round,&#8221; added the Irishman.<\/p>\n<p>Scotland head coach Andy Robinson welcomed Bradley&#8217;s arrival and hopes together they can bring success back to the Scottish rugby scene.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson, who coached Edinburgh before being appointed to the national team, said: &#8220;This is a great appointment for Edinburgh and Scottish Rugby. I am certain Michael will bring great drive and determination to the role of head coach of Edinburgh. I very much look forward to working with him and wish him every success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Scottish Rugby Union chief executive Gordon McKie said Bradley&#8217;s &#8220;passion for the sport&#8221; was what set him apart from the other applicants for the post.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m delighted to be welcoming Michael Bradley to Edinburgh&#8221;, McKie commented.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This appointment marks the culmination of an extensive recruitment process which saw an extremely pleasing level of interest in the post from a number of excellent candidates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Michael impressed everyone involved in the interview process with his passion for the sport and for taking Edinburgh forward.
