51.85 per cent<\/strong> of voters believe goalline technology should be used for all contentious decisions regarding whether the ball has crossed the line, which would have come in handy on a number of occasions in recent years.<\/p>\nFrank Lampard’s goal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday would almost certainly have been ruled out, but his disallowed goal in the World Cup last summer could have changed the face of England’s tournament. And then there’s the Pedro Mendes goal for Tottenham against Manchester United in 2005 which clearly crossed the line by a good couple of inches, but was still ruled out.<\/p>\n
Adam, from Wales said:\u00a0“If you don’t agree then you need to be shot! Plain and simple, it takes maybe an extra 30 seconds to review a decision and it’s not like it would waste any time as players argue over a decision for a few minutes, so in some cases it can make the game more free flowing and quicker.”<\/p>\n
But 29.4%<\/strong> of readers believe the technology should only be used if it proves complete accuracy. If the technology was trialled and it worked successfuly, then those would be happy for it go ahead, but if any trial period showed faults in the results, then it would be better not to use it and leave the job to the officials.<\/p>\nA fifth of readers voted against using technology altogether. 15.93%<\/strong> of voters think it is part of the game and the job of the officials is their job and if they get it wrong so be it.<\/p>\nFahmi, from Indonesia had this to say on\u00a0the matter: “Nothing to lose to try, but it’s important to know that LUCK is part of the game.”<\/p>\n
Finally a mere 2.82%<\/strong> of people voted by saying that mistakes would still happen.<\/p>\nYehudie, from the Carribean argued: “I dont think this should be.. Goalline technology will just stop the flow of the game. What if its not a goal, thats a perfect opportunity for a counterattack.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
