\"\"<\/a>Mr Fidelis S.K. Attoh, a former Volta Regional Director of the National Commission on Civic Education, has attributed the causes of rising heart diseases and stroke to economic and social injustices in society.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cInability to pay school fees and taxes\u201d was putting many people under a lot of stress and resulting in ill health.<\/p>\n

Mr Attoh said this at the launch of the 11th Annual National Constitution Week celebration in the Region at Akome, in the Ho Municipal Area.<\/p>\n

It was on the theme: \u201cThe State of Democracy in Ghana-2011.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Attoh said his assertion was confirmed with reports of many young people, some in school, developing heart problems, which were thought to be diseases of the old.<\/p>\n

He, therefore, called on government to introduce more social intervention programmes to resolve economic inequalities in society.<\/p>\n

Mr Attoh also urged Members of Parliament and other people in places of authority to eschew corrupt behaviours and be law abiding to create a just society.<\/p>\n

He said this way, stress related ailments would reduce and the country would avert a possible social upheaval as being witnessed in the sub-region.<\/p>\n

Participants during an open forum expressed concern about over- taxation, high school fees and high utility bills.<\/p>\n
