Mr. Ibrahim explained that 14 hand-pumps and 3 solar energy-generated water sources have been put in place in the sub-zone, thus easing the previously existing acute shortage of potable water supply. The construction of 23 water reservoirs in the sub-zone are equally playing due role in providing drinking water to livestock resources, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that prior to independence there were only 7 elementary and 1 junior school in the sub-zone, Mr. Ibrahim explained that at present there are 24 schools with special emphasis on the remote areas.
