IN a bid to eradicate corruption, especially in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has introduced Systems Application and Programmes, SAP, an Enterprise Resource Planning, ERP, which is designed to add value to life by simplifying its operations.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the inauguration of the\u00a0 two committees to\u00a0 facilitate\u00a0 implementation, Special Assistance to the MD\/CEO of NDDC, Mr Chibuzor Ugwoha, explained that the benefits will affect every aspect of the commission\u2019s operations, in form of quicker and more accurate processing of work packages.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cwe believe that more predictable delivery of internal services such as procurement, expert management, human resources management, longer lasting infrastructure and better services delivery to the citizenry will be achieve.<\/p>\n

The committees, he stated, are SAP Steering Committee comprising, among others, the managing director as chairman, as well as the Executive Director, Projects,\u00a0 Esoetok Ikpong Etteh, and\u00a0 Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. P. Z. Aginighan, as members, and a 16-member Change Management Committee, headed by the Acting Head, Security, Mr. Peter Idabor.<\/p>\n

Mr Ugwoha, who represented the MD\/CEO of NDDC\u00a0 noted\u00a0 likely challenges in the implementation of the project but insisted that the scheme must succeed.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are comfortable with the statusquo and will always resist change. But it must be noted also that change is the only constant thing that we can rely upon.<\/p>\n

So, rather than resist the coming changes, we should embrace them,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

In addition, he said the initial roll out of the SAP solution would cover about 100 staff of the commission, adding that\u00a0 by 2012, all professional staff of the NDDC will utilize the solution to execute their daily work.\u00a0 He also stated that management\u00a0 had approved various training initiatives, including off-shore training, for some members of staff involved in the project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
