Arsenal<\/a> for the Premier League title this season.<\/p>\nThe winger believes that his team have the talent available to have mounted a title challenge this season but now will settle for a top four finish and a place in next season\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n
Johnson has made 38 appearances for City this season but admitted he thought the club would be closer to the top three at this stage of the campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m disappointed that we are not in there the title challenge,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally, I think we should be and a lot of neutral people think we should be with the squad we have. But there was a couple of iffy results which we should have won.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roberto Mancini\u2019s side were expected to mount a challenge this season given the players the club has at it\u2019s disposal but Johnson refused to settle for fourth place despite there only being three games of the season remaining.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the start of the season we wanted to be top two and having been in the top four all season we want to keep pushing,\u201d Johnson admitted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe might yet finish even higher than fourth. We\u2019ve just got to keep going. But that result at Liverpool didn\u2019t mean we thought Spurs could catch us.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe knew we still had a few points on them and we\u2019ve pushed that gap to seven, which is massive for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
A top four finish would see City take their place in the Champions League next season and Johnson revealed he was excited that the opportunity to test himself on the biggest stage and that he would be fulfilling a boyhood dream in doing so.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an Englishman growing up, watching English clubs in the Champions League was massive,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the biggest club competition in the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what you dream about when you\u2019re growing up as a kid, playing in massive arenas in massive games. We\u2019ve still got a bit of work to do but it is ours to lose.\u201d<\/p>\n
