A twelve-year-old girl, Maame Esi Awotwe has been crowned the winner of the second edition of Talented Kidz, TV3\u2019s reality show for young children aimed at unearthing their hidden talents.<\/p>\n
The Class Four pupil of Most Holy Heart School in Dansoman, whose talent on the show was singing, received three thousand Ghana cedis and sponsors\u2019 products for her prize.<\/p>\n
Enoch Darko who was a stand-up comic came second and took home GHC 2,000 while violinist, Crystal Abena Nyamekye who placed third received GHC 1,000 as well as sponsors\u2019 products.<\/p>\n
It was a full house and an enthusiastic audience that gathered to watch the 10 young boys and girls; Monalisa Sarfo, Emmanuel Darko, Tyra Asiedu, Felix Amponsah, Enoch Darko, Maame Esi Awotwe, Ruth Amofa, Angel, Crystal Abena Nyamekye and Sam Busters compete in the finals.<\/p>\n
Unlike what they usually did in the weekly shows, the contestants performed twice, the first time alone which they were given marks for by judges, singer Pauline Oduro and Benedict Yartey and then with their role models for which they were not assessed.<\/p>\n
In both rounds, Maame Esi Awotwe did not disappoint.\u00a0 In the first round, she sang Lucky Dube\u2019s House of Exile admirably spicing it with some patois while in the second, she performed Kokooko with Akosua Adjapong and she nailed the pretty songstress\u2019 dance moves so well that the audience had no option but to give her resounding cheers.<\/p>\n
As he had been doing throughout the show, Enoch gave the audience some side splitting jokes for the first round and with his special guest, Kwakwa put up a very interesting sketch.<\/p>\n
Crystal started enthusiastically on the show but lost momentum along the way; however she roused herself up on the final day to play No Tribe\u2019s Bohye and Abrantie Amakye Dede\u2019s Mmobrowa with the musician\u2019s long time violinist, Kwame Thomas so beautifully and she got rave reviews from the judges.<\/p>\n
Rappers Emmanuel Darko and Ruth Frema Amofa performed their own compositions like they\u2019ve been doing throughout the show, in the first round and later came on stage with Reggie Rockstone who could not hide his admiration for them.
Atenteben players, Angels also played Paapa Yankson\u2019s Okukuseku and later played with their mentor Dela while dancers Monalisa Sarfo and Sam Busters did their own thing with a medley of songs and later with famed dancer, Adjetey Sowah.<\/p>\n
Bass Guitarist, Felix Amponsah, overcame the disappointment of not having his role model, George Darko perform with him to play his song Pempensiwa and one from Soul Winners admirably while Tyra Asiedu did Tattoo by Jordin Sparks and later played with Amandzeba (Nat Brew) on his song Biakoye.<\/p>\n
All of them gave off their best but in the end, Maame Esi, who had consistently thrilled the judges and the studio audiences over the 13-week period came out tops.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Adom Entertainment News, Maame Esi said she was surprised when her name was mentioned as the winner as she was expecting to place third since there were others she thought were extremely good.<\/p>\n
When asked what she would be using the money for, she said she will give the money to her father. \u201cI lost my mom some years back and my dad has been the only one taking care of my six siblings and I so I will give him the money to expand his business so that he take good care of us,\u201d she said tearfully.<\/p>\n
Enoch and Crystal both said they will use their cash prizes for their education.<\/p>\n
Apart from the celebrities who came on stage, others who were in the audience included Grace Ashy, Ohemaa Mercy and DSP Kofi Sarpong.<\/p>\n
