President John Evans Atta Mills on Sunday commissioned a dining hall complex for the Northern School of Business in Tamale to provide decent infrastructural facilities for the students.<\/p>\n
The project, valued at GH\u00a2745,000 was started in 2007 and can accommodate more than 2,000 students.<\/p>\n
Prof. Mills has been in the region for four days on a tour, inspecting and commissioning some developmental projects.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, he participated in the final funeral rites of the late Nab Dr Ayietab
Azantilow, paramount chief of Sandema.<\/p>\n
The President told the students to study hard to justify the numerous infrastructural development projects that had been undertaken under his administration for them, adding that, the government would fulfill all the promises it made to the people of Ghana.<\/p>\n
At Zoggu in the Savelugu\/Nanton District, the President inspected ongoing construction work on the 110 kilometre road being undertaken at US$ 21 million dollars with funds from the Millennium Development
Authority (MIDA).<\/p>\n
He said the construction of the road would open the area for speedy economic activity and enhance agricultural production as well as carting of goods to the marketing centres.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy government will not rest until every part of the country has seen meaningful development,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n
The District Chief Executive for Savelugu\/Nanton, Mr Prince Askia Mohammed, said the district had benefited from the provision of 49 educational infrastructural facilities, distribution of 10,392 free
school uniforms, 139,023 exercise books and the employment of 714 youths under the National Youth Employment Programme.<\/p>\n
He said a total of 1,190 sheep had been distributed to 119 farmers on a credit in a of kind policy, aimed at raising livestock for the country.<\/p>\n
Under the block farms 2,982 hectares of rice, maize and soya beans had been produced.<\/p>\n
The President had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Sagnarigu Regent, Mohammed Karim, in Tamale, where he assured the regent that the government was committed to the fair and equitable distribution of the national resources.<\/p>\n
The President is expected to depart to Accra after participating in the May Day celebrations in Tamale.<\/p>\n
