In all, 220 constituencies selected their parliamentary candidates for the New Patriotic Party for the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive interview with the New Statesman, Nana Akufo-Addo could not hide his excitement about the weekend&#8217;s success. \u201cIt&#8217;s great! Well done, NPP! My congratulations go to the party leadership at all levels, the aspirants, delegates and the entire membership of our party for the mature, competent and peaceful manner in which the whole exercise was successfully completed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cThis is yet evidence that the New Patriotic Party continues to blaze the trail for Ghana&#8217;s democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo disclosed that all was now set for the actual campaign to begin. \u201cWe have now completed our internal reorganization by the peaceful and transparent selection of our parliamentary candidates and can now turn our attention fully to mounting a vigorous campaign that will bring victory for our party next year and relief to the mass of our people in 2013 and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NPP flagbearer, in his praise, did not leave out journalists. \u201cWe are also grateful to the media for the wide and professional coverage they gave to the primaries,\u201d he said. Several people in the national capital, including the NPP flagbearer, who had to travel to Abuakwa South for Atta Akyea&#8217;s acclamation, relied on independent radio stations, including Oman FM, Peace FM and Joy FM, for regular results update.<\/p>\n<p>The nationwide primaries, which were described by a journalist as a \u201cmini general election,\u201d saw media houses, especially independent radio stations, deploying correspondents across constituencies who fed their listeners with regular updates.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the New Statesman, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the NPP said the leadership of the NPP will this week embark on a post-primary solidarity tour, what he described as an \u201cAll Hands on Deck\u201d exercise.<\/p>\n<p>It is recalled that Nana Addo, the National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, the General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and Campaign Manager Bokaye Agyarko last February went on a similar national tour to urge the party in all constituencies to ensure a peaceful and transparent primaries.<\/p>\n<p>Many analysts believe that exercise of proactive leadership engagement by Nana Addo and his team contributed massively to the all-round success chalked by the party last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The all-hands-on-deck exercise begins Thursday, May 5 in the Central Region. Friday, May 6, the team takes the solidarity message to the Ashanti Region, ending the week in Brong Ahafo on Saturday.The rest are as follows: Sunday, May 8, Northern Region; Monday, May 9, Upper East; Tuesday, May 10, Upper West.<\/p>\n<p>The team then heads back southwards, `to take the message of unity of purpose to the Eastern Region on Thursday, May 12.
