She covered the royal wedding for U.S. television \u2013 and now Amanda Holden has become a princess herself.<\/p>\n

Dressed in a shimmering emerald gown, Miss Holden, 40, poses as Princess Fiona ahead of Shrek The Musical\u2019s first West End preview on Friday.<\/p>\n

But she had better enjoy the fairy-tale makeover while it lasts, as fans of the DreamWorks animated films upon which the show is based will know the beautiful princess, voiced on screen by Cameron Diaz, is eventually transformed into a hideous green ogre.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Miss Holden will take to the stage at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane alongside Nigel Lindsay as grumpy ogre Shrek, Richard Blackwood as his sidekick Donkey and Nigel Harman as the villainous Lord Farquaard.<\/p>\n

The Britain\u2019s Got Talent judge said preparing for the musical \u2018has put a smile on my face\u2019 after she lost her baby son seven months into her pregnancy earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

She also revealed just how excited her five-year-old daughter Lexi was to see the production, which opens officially on June 14, especially as Princess Fiona is her favourite film character.<\/p>\n

She said: \u2018Lexi\u2019s been watching me tap-dance in the kitchen. She\u2019s dying to see the full show.\u2019<\/p>\n
