She’s a well-known philanthropist who gives a lot of her time for charity and is often seen showing her support at various red carpet fundraisers.<\/p>\n

But yesterday, Eva Longoria ditched the heels and designer dress for a propeller and some wings as she soared over Miami in a small plane.<\/p>\n

The Desperate Housewives star, 36, took to the skies in the light aircraft for the Rally for Kids With Cancer Scavenger Cup.<\/p>\n

And clearly not a nervous flier, she gave a hearty thumbs up and flashed a big smile as she donned her headset and took her seat behind the controls.<\/p>\n

But that wasn’t the only engine she got started, as she later took part in a car race as part of the event, driving a Mercedes SLR McLaren round a track.<\/p>\n

\n

Here we go: Eva gives a thumbs-up and laughs excitedly as she gets ready to soar the skies<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

And even in the soaring Florida heat and being behind two hot engines, the actress kept her cool in small white shorts and a charity T-shirt.<\/p>\n

Later on in the day, she was snapped holding a black and white checkered flag as she posed by the sports car before the race.<\/p>\n

She also spoke to one of the children being treated at the Children’s Hospital in Miami, as he sat behind the wheel of the car.<\/p>\n

The pair were then seen walking about the event together clutching hands as they chatted away and shared a few jokes.<\/p>\n

All that glitters: Eva sits patiently as she has a sparkly butterfly painted on her cheek before admiring the artwork in a mirror<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eva was the host at the event which was held to raise money for children\u2019s cancer research, care and treatment for organizations in Miami.<\/p>\n

Speaking before the event, she urged people to sponsor her and said: ‘The Rally for Kids with Cancer Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children throughout Miami.<\/p>\n

‘By pledging me for this event you are supporting children\u2019s cancer research from diagnosis and treatment, to conducting research and finding promising new therapies.<\/p>\n

‘I hope you\u2019ll sponsor me in this very worthwhile cause. Your generous donation will go towards helping kids with cancer beat the disease so they can live active, full lives.’<\/p>\n

Once the sporting day was over, Eva changed into white skinny jeans, a sparkling gold top and towering nude peep-toed heels as she attended a gala dinner that wrapped up the day.<\/p>\n
