Gerrard: Targeting pre-season return for Liverpool after undergoing groin operation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Steven Gerrard is confident of making a swift recovery after surgery on a troublesome groin problem.<\/p>\n

The Liverpool skipper was ruled out of the remainder of the season after going under the knife in early April.<\/span><\/p>\n

And, having struggled with the problem for a number of years, Gerrard is hopeful he can now concentrate on his recovery.<\/span><\/p>\n

He believes the club were right to send him for an operation and he is now in a positive frame of mind regarding his future fitness.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am pleased I have had the surgery because for the first time in a while I’m feeling confident about my groin.”

The England midfielder said: “Being injured is absolutely killing me.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The manager and everyone else do their best to make you feel part of it but unless you are out there starting every week it doesn’t quite feel the same.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Having said that, I am pleased I have had the surgery because for the first time in a while I’m feeling confident about my groin.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Fingers crossed I’ll be there on the first day of pre-season.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
