{"id":411629,"date":"2011-04-30T23:42:02","date_gmt":"2011-04-30T23:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/30\/michael-barrymore-hurt-in-fall-from-horse-on-tv-show\/"},"modified":"2011-04-30T23:42:02","modified_gmt":"2011-04-30T23:42:02","slug":"michael-barrymore-hurt-in-fall-from-horse-on-tv-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/30\/michael-barrymore-hurt-in-fall-from-horse-on-tv-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Barrymore hurt in fall from horse on TV show"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"102.776470588\">\n<p>By <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/home\/search.html?s=y&#038;authornamef=Mail+On+Sunday+Reporter\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mail On Sunday Reporter<\/a><br \/>Last updated at 12:42 AM on 1st May 2011<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div readability=\"7\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/9b83c05927_233x423.jpg.jpg\" width=\"233\" height=\"423\" alt=\"Dispute: Barrymore lost a tooth and hit his head in the fall in Corsica\" class=\"blkBorder\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dispute: Barrymore lost a tooth and hit his head in the fall in Corsica<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Michael Barrymore was treated in hospital for a suspected head injury after being thrown from a horse while filming a new reality TV show.<\/p>\n<p>The 58-year-old comedian was taking part in Channel 4 series Celebrity Coach Trip \u2013 which sees stars travel in Europe on a coach.<\/p>\n<p>Barrymore lost a tooth and hit his head in the fall in Corsica.<\/p>\n<p>He was treated there but needed further hospital treatment in the UK after he is said to have collapsed at his Essex home.<\/p>\n<p>Barrymore is now in dispute with the production company, ITV Productions, about who should pay for an MRI scan.<\/p>\n<p>Channel 4 said: \u2018The production team took every measure to ensure the strict health and safety protocols in place were adhered to.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Barrymore said last night: \u2018Michael was thrown from a horse and chipped his tooth \u2013 also banging his head.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The star recently had to dney that he was drunk and abusive to a French waiter and fellow competitors during the filming of the show.<\/p>\n<p>It had been alleged that he had been guzzling wine and heckled fellow stars including Lizzie Cundy and Lembit Opik before launching a &#8216;disgusting verbal attack&#8217; on a waiter as they ate a meal in Corsica, calling him a &#8216;c***&#8217; before being thrown out.<\/p>\n<p>However, Barrymore&#8217;s spokesman told Mail Online that he had not been drinking but was &#8216;very unsteady and disoriented&#8217; from heavy medication after being thrown from the horse earlier in the trip.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8216;Back in the UK, Michael had an MRI scan which revealed minor bleeding on the brain&#8230;He was not allowed to film for two days as a result of the fall.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;On one of these days Michael met up with most of the talent and production in a local restaurant following their own day filming.
