Carlo Ancelotti admitted Chelsea were \u201clucky\u201d with both of their goals as they kept their Premier League hopes alive by beating Tottenham.<\/p>\n

Salomon Kalou scored the 89th minute from an offside position after Frank Lampard\u2019s contentious equaliser had cancelled out Sandro\u2019s opener.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we got the benefit of two fortunate decisions,\u201d Ancelotti told reporters after the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can see that, yes, we were lucky with the goals \u2013 but that is football and the referee doesn\u2019t have the benefit of TV replays.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chelsea have won eight of their last nine leagues matches but Ancelotti has yet to solve the puzzle of the striking options at his disposal.<\/p>\n

Didier Drogba was the outstanding forward on display at Stamford Bridge but the manager says that does not mean he will start at Old Trafford next week.<\/p>\n

Drogba played the full 90 minutes against Spurs while Fernando Torres was subbed just after the hour mark to make way for Kalou, while Nicolas Anelka also came off the bench.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrogba is not the first choice to win a game but we had a good control of the game and we used a lot of power to attack,\u201d said Ancelotti. \u201cWe needed to have a player with power in the box.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe problem was not the position of Fernando Torres. The problem was the first half today we tried to play a lot of time between the lines. We didn\u2019t use the wide space.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first 20 minutes was good and Fernando was involved. After that, we had more difficulty to pass the ball to him.<\/p>\n

“The performance of Fernando was good. Also, Didier sacrificed himself for the team to support Fernando and play behind him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ancelotti revealed that Michael Essien was substituted early in the second half because he had been a doubt for the game after not training properly during the week.<\/p>\n
