Self-titled fragrances have become a must-have accessory for celebrities in recent years and singers Rihanna and Katy Perry have joined the growing number of stars releasing their own perfumes.<\/p>\n

Although many of the signature scents leave little to be desired and have been panned by critics, that hasn\u2019t stopped endorsement happy stars from signing big money deals to release their own lines.<\/p>\n

Perry, who is married to British comedian Russell Brand, was pictured launching her first scent Purr in Melbourne, Australia.<\/p>\n

Dressed in a lilac and black sequinned dress, the 27-year-old posed with a bottle of the fragrance, which is designed in the shape of a cat.<\/p>\n

The star, who is currently touring Australia, looked pleased with herself as she stood beside several models dressed in purple cat suits.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile on the other side of the world her friend Rihanna, 23, was busy promoting her own perfume, Reb’l Fleur at Macy’s Herald Square in New York.<\/p>\n

Wearing a gorgeous black and white polka-dot dress which showed off her curves, and pink heels, the flame haired star clutched the perfume bottle in one hand as she posed for photographers.<\/p>\n

\u2018Over the years, I layered many different scents to get something that was truly my own,\u201d she told People magazine recently. \u201cBut I wanted\u2026 something that said \u201cRihanna was here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Something delicious and special, a fragrance with subtle hints that linger and leave a sexy memory.\u2019<\/p>\n

Rihanna and Perry join the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Price, Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria and David Beckham and Britney Spears, who all have their own perfume lines.<\/p>\n

However one star who won\u2019t be releasing a fragrance any time soon is Harry Potter actress Emma Watson.<\/p>\n

I can’t understand this fragrance thing,\u2019 she told People magazine last year. \u201c Why would you want to smell like somebody else? Don’t you want to smell like yourself?”<\/p>\n
