Brit actress, Emma Watson has denied reports that she was bullied out of Brown University.<\/p>\n

Last month the Harry Potter star announced that she was quitting her studies at the Ivy League school after just 18 months to focus on her acting career.<\/p>\n

Many speculated that bullying had sparked the decision but now the actress has denied this in an official posting on her website.<\/p>\n

When it emerged that the 21 year old had decided to postpone her Liberal arts degree it was alleged that constant heckling forced her out.<\/p>\n

One source claimed that when the actress responded correctly to questions in lectures, her classmates would shout ‘Three points for Gryffindor!’<\/p>\n

However Miss Watson said: ‘I felt the need to let you all know the reason I took a semester off from Brown had nothing to do with bullying.<\/p>\n

‘I have never been bullied in my life and certainly never at Brown. This ’10 points to Gryffindor’ incident never even happened.<\/p>\n

‘I feel the need to say this because accusing Brown students of something as serious as bullying and this causing me to leave seems beyond unfair.’<\/p>\n

Miss Watson originally chose to study in the U.S because of the broad curriculum offered by the American education system.<\/p>\n

She felt that her early acting career had caused her to miss so much school that the British system ‘where you have to just choose one thing to study for three years’ didn’t appeal.<\/p>\n

She continues in her letter to fans that she had not decided on plans for later in the year.<\/p>\n

‘Please don’t try and speculate about what I might do in September – no one can possibly know because I don’t even know yet!<\/p>\n

‘Like my other fellow Brown students I am trying to figure out my third year and whether or not I will spend it abroad.’<\/p>\n

Staff and students at the university have also supported Watson’s claims.<\/p>\n

Visiting professor Bianca Dahl said: “There was an awareness of her, but in a protective way.<\/p>\n

‘I can’t fathom that faculty or students would allow bullying to happen.’<\/p>\n

Graduate Allison Zimmer added: ‘At the beginning there was a little bit of an aura around her. People would say, ‘Oh, I just had my first Emma Watson spotting’. But that faded after the first few weeks.’<\/p>\n

Miss Watson’s comments come a week after her spokesperson Vanessa Davies said the actress would transfer to another university in autumn because she had ‘decided to pursue a different course which sadly Brown does not offer.’<\/p>\n

She said the university was ‘affiliated to Brown’, and Miss Watson might return to Brown for her final year.<\/p>\n

The actress joined the university in Providence, Rhode Island, in September 2009, initially to study literature.<\/p>\n

She is now busy working on a number of fashion projects and recently finished filming Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the final instalment in the JK Rowling stories, which has its world premi\u00e8re in London in July.<\/p>\n

She will also star in Perks Of Being A Wallflower, the Hollywood adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s novel.<\/p>\n

Miss Watson concludes: ‘I hope you all liked the new Harry Potter trailer. I am off to Pittsbugh soon to start “The Perks of being a Wallflower”.<\/p>\n

I’ve just got back from hanging out with Stephen Chobosky (the director and writer), Logan and Ezra (the two other principal actors) and I already know this is going to be an incredible experience. I feel very lucky.’<\/p>\n
