The Federal Government is putting finishing touches to a new bill to review\u00a0 the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC. The\u00a0 strengthen the physical security of m embers of NYSC security situation of the scheme against the backdrop of the recent murder of nine of them in the North.<\/p>\n

Minister of Youth Development, Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi said in Abuja that the initiative was part of government\u2019s response to the killing of the corps members.<\/p>\n

His words: \u201cTo permanently foreclose future occurrence, the ministry is scheduling a security review meeting with all relevant security agencies on a new proactive and preventive strategy to secure corps members in their respective states of posting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat the present administration is determined to bring the perpetrators and sponsors of this dastardly act to book at all cost.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolitics is not a do or die affair or if I don\u2019t win, the whole world will come down. It is wrong, we should not shed the blood of innocent ones.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe killing and attacks of corps members are unpatriotic, inhuman and barbaric\u00a0 that should be condemned by all well meaning Nigerians and should never happen again under whatever guise.<\/p>\n

Senator Olasunkanmi said while \u201cnothing can adequately compensate for the sad loss of our loved ones, the ministry will go the extra miles to immortalize the slain corps members and compensate their families and guardians.<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from the insurance of the INEC and that of the NYSC, the Federal Government will also give its own, my problem is not compensation but politicians should stop violence that will take innocent souls\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
