Gavin Henson’s future at Toulon will become clear on Monday when the club are expected to announce the outcome of their disciplinary process.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A decision had been expected on Friday but officials wanted more details.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old met Toulon management on Wednesday following his one-week suspension after a nightclub incident.<\/p>\n

“We’ve had a meeting with Gavin and we’ll take a bit of time to reflect before making any announcement,” said Toulon team manager Tom Whitford.<\/p>\n

Henson has played only two games since joining Toulon in February and although he is no longer suspended, he is understood not to be training with the squad ahead of their crucial Top 14 game at Montpellier on 7 May.<\/p>\n

French press reports have suggested that Toulon have already decided to end Henson’s ill-fated career at the club with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal had said previously Henson was “difficult to manage”, a comment which would strongly hint that the club are extremely unlikely to take up the two-year option on his contract which would have run from the end of this season.<\/p>\n

All seemed well for the centre, who last played for Wales in 2009, when he made an immediate impression by creating and scoring a try in his debut in a 38-10 win over Stade Francais in the Top 14.<\/p>\n

He played in the next league game when Toulon boosted their chances of securing an end-of-season play-off place by beating Toulouse 21-9 at home.<\/p>\n

But his penchant for controversy resurfaced again when he was given a week’s ban by the club for failing to “respect the code of good behaviour defined by the club” during a night out with team-mates after that match.<\/p>\n

A report in the L’Equipe newspaper on Tuesday<\/a> reported he would not play for Toulon again.<\/p>\n

But Boudjellal insisted Henson would be granted a fair hearing, although he conceded he has had problems with a player whose career is becoming synonymous with off-field problems rather than playing brilliance.<\/p>\n

“This week I have tried to find out what happened because I have to make a decision which is the most objective possible,” said Boudjellal last week.<\/p>\n

“I think I know now what happened, so I will make decisions on Monday. We are not here to back him into a corner. He is a boy who makes mistakes sometimes. He’s not the only one in rugby. There are others.”<\/p>\n

He added: “You can tell that he’s a great player. He’s a cut above and makes me think of Sonny Bill Williams. They are boys who are cuts above. But sometimes they hit rock bottom.”<\/p>\n

After a self-imposed 18-month rugby exile because of injury and personal problems, Henson returned to the rugby field in December 2010 after negotiating his release from his Ospreys contract to join Saracens.<\/p>\n

Four appearances later, he made a surprise move to the south of France to join Toulon on a five-month deal. But a calf injury suffered playing for Sarries had delayed his debut until early April.<\/p>\n

His impressive debut prompted Wales assistant coach, Rob Howley, to say Henson was “very likely” to play for the national side against the Barbarians on 4 June.<\/a> <\/p>\n

But this latest indiscretion has raised severe doubts over his chances of winning his 32nd cap, and the Welsh Rugby Union want to meet Henson<\/a> to discuss the situation.<\/p>\n

Andy Powell, suspended by his club London Wasps following a bar brawl, has also been invited to a meeting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
