The golden rule when acting as a bridesmaid is never to upstage the bride.<\/p>\n

So it was lucky last night that Rose Byrne was not an an actual wedding but in fact at the world premiere of Bridesmaids in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old actress looked stunning in a hot pink and black dress, which she teamed with black and red accessories as she posed on the matching pink carpet.<\/p>\n

Byrne stars as bridesmaid Helen in the upcoming comedy film, which tells the story of maid of honour Annie (played by Kristen Wiig) and her experience being maid of honour to best friend Lillan (Maya Rudolph).<\/p>\n

Accompanied by a group of colourful bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) they go on a wild ride down the road to matrimony.<\/p>\n

The movie has already been described as the female equivalent to last year’s smash The Hangover and director Paul Feig said he was determined to make a female-led comedy.<\/p>\n

He said: ‘The whole goal of making this movie was to make a very funny, very honest movie about women in a way that they\u2019re not normally made.<\/p>\n

‘Both Judd (Apatow) and I feel women are very much under-served by modern comedy, because it\u2019s all so guy-centric.’<\/p>\n

He also revealed that the female stars of the film took some of his direction a little too far.<\/p>\n

Feig said: ‘We were pushing for more sex talk than I think they originally wanted to do.<\/p>\n

‘But once we told them to do it honestly, the floodgates opened and all this funny stuff came out that was ten times dirtier than what I was pushing for.<\/p>\n

‘I wanted to make a movie that\u2019s clearly going to be marketed to women, but when guys show up, they\u2019ll be like “This is really fun!” The Devil Wears Prada worked on that level for me too.<\/p>\n

‘Guys get dragged to it and then they see that it\u2019s a relatable story for everybody.’<\/p>\n

Kristen Wiig, who co-wrote the comedy, was also present at the premiere, looking stunning in a white strapless dress.<\/p>\n

The Saturday Night Live comedienne admitted she was feeling nervous about the film, which is being billed as her big break.<\/p>\n

She said recently: ‘I\u2019m very excited. I\u2019ve seen it, I really like it, I\u2019m so lucky, Judd asked me to write this and to get Paul Feig to direct it and the cast – I couldn\u2019t be happier.<\/p>\n

‘We really wanted to write something that had a lot of women in it.’<\/p>\n
