It’s a fashion rule widely debated in the industry that wearing horizontal stripes makes you look wider than you actually are.<\/p>\n

And yesterday Kim Kardashian decided to take something of a sartorial risk as she stepped out in a black and white striped maxi dress.<\/p>\n

But while the 30-year-old star’s outfit was flattering from the front, it was less than flattering from behind, with the racer back also displaying her nude coloured bra.<\/p>\n

Flattering? The jury is still out on the striped maxi dress Kim Kardashian wore out in Los Angeles yesterday<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kim paired the dress with a pair of black flip-flops, a Herm\u00e8<\/em>s Birkin bag and the obligatory huge sunglasses.<\/p>\n

The reality TV star chose the outfit for a morning at the nail salon, where she chose an on-trend fluorescent pink colour for both her fingers and toes.<\/p>\n

Despite experts having thought for years that horizontal stripes make you look wider than you are, a recent study by York University found that it was actually vertical stripes which were the most unflattering.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Kim’s sister Khloe has spoken out about how difficult she finds it to be constantly compared to Kim and other sister Kourtney.<\/p>\n

Khloe, who is constantly battling her weight, said: ‘They are 5-foot and 5-foot-2, so I look massive next to them.<\/p>\n

‘Everyone expects me to be 9 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds when they meet me.’<\/p>\n

Khloe admitted it was her mother Kris Jenner’s divorce from her late father Robert Kardashian that first sparked her weight gain.<\/p>\n

She said: ‘My brother Rob and I were always heavy. They gave us food to keep us comforted. All we did was eat crap.<\/p>\n

‘I had older women tell me, “You should really work out”. It really got to me.’<\/p>\n
