He was thrust onto the political plane when the President decided to appoint him Eastern Regional Minister and within the brief period that he has held the office, failure has been his hallmark.<\/p>\n
Management of such offices does not end with the award of contracts for the construction of school blocks, and with regional party executives following sheepishly.<\/p>\n
It is about how many persons have been wooed to the side of the President through sterling interpersonal relationships and life-enhancing endeavours devoid of politics and insults.<\/p>\n
From a position of nothingness, he has overnight found himself giving orders, and with humility a distant feature of his, we are not at all amazed at the resulting uncouthness he is exhibiting.<\/p>\n
Medical doctors, by the nature of their training, rarely exhibit such attitude, and so many were taken aback by Dr. Akyem Appiah-Kubi’s foul mouth.<\/p>\n
While some sought to find out how he was brought up, others could not afford such efforts, concluding almost immediately that the man could not have had a decent upbringing.<\/p>\n
Persons with Dr. Appiah-Kubi’s attributes rarely conduct themselves differently from what we saw and heard when the man stripped himself naked, as it were.<\/p>\n
Had he not fooled the Appointments Committee members about his real nature, we could have been spared the embarrassment of a male adult- a medical doctor at that- spewing such unprintable words about members of the fourth estate of the realm, simply because he finds himself running the office of minister.<\/p>\n
No wonder we keep hearing remarks about the shortage of appropriate role models for the kids and younger ones to emulate.<\/p>\n
It would be interesting to find out how such a man called doctor fared in the consulting room. He could have been putting off his patients, lacking what it takes to be a successful physician or surgeon.<\/p>\n
Such a quality goes beyond examination success at the Medical School. It is regrettable that such a man is holding a public office. In a President Mills government, need we be surprised? Ex-President Rawlings and his spouse would best explain such appointment aberrations.<\/p>\n
Undeniably, there is a symbiotic relationship between the media and politicians, which evidently, is beyond the ken of reckless novices in political office like this punk .<\/p>\n
The subtlety of language is an important prerequisite for holding the important office of minister of state, a representative of the President.<\/p>\n
Situations where excited government appointees go overboard and foul the atmosphere with preposterous remarks will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n
Some say the Eastern Regional Minister, new in the seat and perhaps overstressed in the face of choosing between the candidacies of Mills, the man who appointed him and Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, should be pardoned. We think otherwise.<\/p>\n
Unsurprisingly, the party’s regional organiser’s intervention, when he was accused of threatening to have a reporter beaten up, did not help matters. After all, he took a cue from the minister when he unashamedly said it is a convention to resort to the barbarous conduct of organizing the beating of a journalist when it is discovered that he has published untruths.<\/p>\n
The NDC is in trouble, having assembled characters like the minister and party organizer because such persons are not helping the stature of a political grouping that is facing a huge challenge as regards its image.<\/p>\n
With such persons at the helm, why would Rawlings and his spouse not seek to take back their party?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
