Castleford Tigers prop forward Craig Huby has been ruled out for at least four months following an operation on his knee.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old fractured his patella in a collision towards the end of their 22-20 defeat by St Helens on Monday.<\/p>\n

“He was operated on last Tuesday night and it went well,” coach Terry Matterson said.<\/p>\n

“He’s going to be out for months. I’d say four minimum. Fingers crossed we can get him back for the semi-finals.”<\/p>\n

Huby had been playing some of the best rugby of his career and had helped take Cas to the top of Super League earlier this season in their best ever start to a campaign.<\/p>\n

Matterson is also convinced the injury has denied his prop the chance to represent his country in the Exiles match on 10 June.<\/p>\n

“He was a real chance of making the England squad,” Matterson continued.<\/p>\n

“He and James Graham have been the best two front-rowers this year, I don’t think there would be any argument about that.<\/p>\n

“He’s been getting better and better. He’s worked hard over the years to get to this stage but he’s become mentally strong and he’ll be fine.<\/p>\n

“We’re going to miss him but we’ve got to deal with these things.”<\/p>\n

Huby is the Tigers’ third front row forward to go down with an injury after Jonny Walker and veteran Nick Fozzard were sidelined earlier in the season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
