{"id":399414,"date":"2011-04-26T12:58:54","date_gmt":"2011-04-26T12:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/26\/kwara-rec-orders-arrest-of-polling-officer-for-late-arrival-of-materials\/"},"modified":"2011-04-26T12:58:54","modified_gmt":"2011-04-26T12:58:54","slug":"kwara-rec-orders-arrest-of-polling-officer-for-late-arrival-of-materials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/26\/kwara-rec-orders-arrest-of-polling-officer-for-late-arrival-of-materials\/","title":{"rendered":"Kwara REC orders arrest of polling officer for late arrival of materials"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"53\">\n<p>Ilorin \u2013 Chief Timothy Ibitoye, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in\u00a0 Kwara, has ordered the arrest of Mr Ashiru Ahmed, Supervising Polling Officer in Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area for late arrival of election material.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that he also ordered the extension of accreditation by two hours to allow disenfranchised electorate to vote.<\/p>\n<p>According to the REC, accreditation did not commence in the area until 11 am despite early distribution of materials across the state.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the Electoral Officer of the local government, Mr Emmanuel Agene, said the election materials were distributed in area on Monday to all the supervising polling officers.<\/p>\n<p>The police whisked Ahmed away for further interrogation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
