{"id":398872,"date":"2011-04-26T09:47:53","date_gmt":"2011-04-26T09:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/26\/zanaco-wins-rotary-golf-tourney\/"},"modified":"2011-04-26T09:47:53","modified_gmt":"2011-04-26T09:47:53","slug":"zanaco-wins-rotary-golf-tourney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/26\/zanaco-wins-rotary-golf-tourney\/","title":{"rendered":"ZANACO Wins Rotary Golf Tourney"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"51.1769023734\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.co.zm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/ac5c213deszambia180.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"The Times of Zambia (Ndola)\" title=\"Visit The Times of Zambia (Ndola)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>26 April 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>A ZANACO team on Sunday scooped the 2011 Rotary International District 9210 Foundation golf championship after beating other rival teams in Ndola.<\/p>\n<p>The team, consisting of Ndola Golf Club captain Greg Lubesha, Zambia Junior Golf Association assistant director Nkrumah Musonda and former Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) presidents Percy Ng&#8217;andwe and Alex Mashano shot 83 points, six clear of the arch-rivals from Fatmols Lodges led by Jason Ndhlovu and Wilfred Tembo.<\/p>\n<p>In the pairs event, Zambia Ladies Golf Union president, Moono Mwila and former ZGU vice-president south, Welani Chilengwe emerged victorious after scoring 46 points, one better than Dave Armitage and his son, Robert.<\/p>\n<p>Junior golfer Mukuka Mwango and veteran lady golfer Idah Chishala finished third on 45 points after losing a count-back to the Armitage pair.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Armitage also won the nearest to the pin accolade while Mwila got the nearest to the string award.<\/p>\n<p>During the raffle draw, Kitwe&#8217;s Chileshe Kafwilo won the first prize which carried a return air ticket for the Ndola-Dubai route while the second prize of a 210-litre deep freezer went to Ellen Nkonde of Kalulushi.<\/p>\n<p>Ndola&#8217;s George Machina won a 21-inch LCD television set as third prize while a full digital satellite television set went to another Ndola resident, Michael Mbewe.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth prize of microwave was won by Anlesh Amesh of Ndola.<\/p>\n<p>Past Rotary International District 9210 governor William Nyirenda, who was guest of honour, said the golf tournament was meant to raise funds for the foundation&#8217;s programmes of helping the needy in society.<\/p>\n<p>Nyirenda said the Polio-plus programme had been the Foundation&#8217;s prime project for almost 15 years and, despite Zambia being declared polio-free, the Rotarians wanted to play a crucial role in prevention.<\/p>\n<p>He said polio was rife in West Africa and there was need to prevent it from coming back to Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>Nyirenda assured all the sponsors that the money raised from the tournament would be properly utilised as the Rotary Foundation was accountable and corruption-free.<\/p>\n<p>Lubesha said Ndola Golf Club was a community club and would always be available to help with projects aimed at alleviating problems in communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Rotarians were targeting to raise K200 million from the golf tournament.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<fieldset>\n<legend align=\"center\"><strong>More News on allAfrica.com<\/strong><\/legend>\n<\/fieldset>\n<p>AllAfrica &#8211; All the Time<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>View original post here:<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/stories\/201104260439.html\" title=\"ZANACO Wins Rotary Golf Tourney\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ZANACO Wins Rotary Golf Tourney<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> 26 April 2011 A ZANACO team on Sunday scooped the 2011 Rotary International District 9210 Foundation golf championship after beating other rival teams in Ndola.
