DALLAS (AP)\u2014Mavericks owner Mark Cuban believes officials missed two crucial calls during Dallas\u2019 18-point meltdown during the fourth quarter of a Game 4 loss to Portland. He\u2019s so sure of it, he\u2019s \u201cabsolutely\u201d willing to be fined for voicing his complaints.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust so that it\u2019s on the record,\u201d he said before Game 5 on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Cuban has an extensive, expensive history of being fined by the league office, especially for griping about officiating. He\u2019s toned down his public outbursts in recent years, yet knew what he was doing when he spoke out this time.<\/p>\n

Cuban was irked most by a charge called on Dirk Nowitzki<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> with 2:16 left and the Mavericks leading 80-74.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought they missed it,\u201d Cuban said. \u201cI\u2019m positive they missed it. \u2026 Once you go up, a guy can\u2019t step in front of you. He has to be set before he goes up and he wasn\u2019t. It\u2019s a tough call, though. So it\u2019s not a shock that somebody misses it because it\u2019s a very tough call.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Trail Blazers followed with a basket that got them within four points. Had a blocking foul been called on Portland\u2019s Gerald Wallace<\/a>(notes)<\/a>,<\/span> the basket would\u2019ve counted and Nowitzki would have shot a free throw, possibly stretching the lead to nine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the call goes the other way, and it\u2019s an and-one on Dirk for a charge, we\u2019re having a completely different conversation right now,\u201d Cuban said during an interview that was heavy on questions about this collapse adding to the team\u2019s history of playoff flameouts.<\/p>\n

The other play was when Dallas\u2019 Tyson Chandler<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> picked up his fifth foul with 6:40 left.<\/p>\n

Cuban said both plays already had been sent to league office with a request for a review. He said they hadn\u2019t heard back.<\/p>\n

The NBA already has policed comments on officiating this series, fining Portland coach Nate McMillan $35,000 for complaining about the wide discrepancy in free throws in the fourth quarter of the opener.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
