{"id":397287,"date":"2011-04-25T18:05:58","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T18:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/25\/nahco-to-invest-13m-on-ground-support-equipment\/"},"modified":"2011-04-25T18:05:58","modified_gmt":"2011-04-25T18:05:58","slug":"nahco-to-invest-13m-on-ground-support-equipment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/25\/nahco-to-invest-13m-on-ground-support-equipment\/","title":{"rendered":"NAHCO to invest $13m on Ground support equipment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"92\">\n<p>BY PRVIDENCE OBUH<br \/>Nigerian Aviation Handling Company( NAHCO) Plc has announced plans to invest $13 million before the end of the year\u00a0 to boost its operations.<\/p>\n<p>The company had invested\u00a0 $7.5 million in the last two years on Next-generation Ground Support Equipment.<br \/>In a statement of its first quarter update to the Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE, signed by Head, Corporate Communications Mr. Sanya<\/p>\n<p>Onayoade,, who disclosed this said , the company has ear-marked N1.7 billion for its ambitious warehouse project, a development which shareholders and clients airlines commended.<\/p>\n<p>According to Onayoade, the company has been awarded a certification of\u00a0 International Air Transport Association IATA Safety Audit in Ground Operations\u00a0 (ISAGO) in respect of\u00a0 its expansion and modernisation progarmme covering renewal of logistics cargo warehouse and operational equipment.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the award came consequence to the company\u2019s support for the Federal Government\u2019s initiative on safety and standards, and the collective desire for sustenance of the Category One status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Management pledges to sustain this certification with constant investment in facilities and equipment as well as human capital that will deliver quality services with time-precision and safety consciousness needed in the aviation industry which is highly dynamic\u201d Onayoade noted.<\/p>\n<p>He further stress that\u00a0 the company places high premium on human capital and so spares no effort in making adequate investment in this direction , adding that management has put in place,\u00a0machinery to enhance human capital and increase budgetary spending on local and international training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company\u2019s policy thrust resolves around manpower and equipment, and so, the Transformation Project involves transformation in culture, efficiency, processes and profitability\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining further he said \u201cBy end of the year, about 90% of NAHCO\u00a0 Aviance\u2019s equipment will be new, with a modernised (automated) warehouse that can take care of the largest cargo airplane and multiple cargo plane landings\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Onayoade noted that new processes and systems are also being introduced to\u00a0 include closed circuit television CCTV cameras in all operation areas to reduce leakages and increase revenue.<\/p>\n<p>However, he pointed out that the company\u2019s diversification drive will be spread across strategic sectors and geographical zones for maximum benefits noting that plans are in place to triple revenues to N20 billion in the next three years, with thirty percent of group revenues coming from diversification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that all these efforts will also enhance safety which is one of NAHCO\u00a0 Aviance\u2019s cardinal objectives\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
