The size of the town has equally expanded vis-\u00e0-vis the residents, he added.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that a total of 781 land plots have been allotted in the first 7 years of independence in different parts of the town, including Hanish, Waliku and Megarih so as to alleviate shortage of residential houses.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Tekie further noted that 150 villas and G+1 building complexes have been constructed in Megarih, and that the building of major hotels, Commercial Bank and other business firms, as well as religious sites gave added color to the charm of the town.<\/p>\n<p>Also in line with efforts to renovate damaged roads and streets, about 16 Km-long roads have been asphalted and another 8.5 km-long road renovated, in addition to the construction and repair of about 17 km-long water pipelines and sewage canals.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Mr. Tekie pointed out that the number of schools has grown by about 150%, which in turn contributed to higher student participation, specifically by about 200%.
