{"id":396736,"date":"2011-04-25T14:30:12","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T14:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/25\/post-election-violence-lagos-evacuates-corps-members\/"},"modified":"2011-04-25T14:30:12","modified_gmt":"2011-04-25T14:30:12","slug":"post-election-violence-lagos-evacuates-corps-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/25\/post-election-violence-lagos-evacuates-corps-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Post election violence: Lagos evacuates corps members"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"67\">\n<p><strong>\u00a0By Jimoh Babatunde &#038; Daniel Eteghe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>84 corps members of Lagos State origin,\u00a0serving\u00a0under the\u00a0National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) scheme\u00a0were, Monday, airlifted\u00a0from Jigawa and Kano states by the Lagos State Emergency Management\u00a0Agency( LASEMA).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0corps members, who arrived\u00a0 the General Aviation Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, aboard\u00a0Arik Air, were received\u00a0 on arrival by the Lagos State commissioner for culture and home affairs, Mr Tunde Balogun.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0\u00a0corps members\u00a0 were\u00a0among those trapped in the crisis that engulfed some states in the North as a fall-out of the Presidential election on April 16, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving the returnees, the Lagos State commissioner for culture and home affairs, Mr Tunde Balogun expressed delight over the readiness of the state government to rescue the corps members.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the development, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency , chief excecutive officer and general manager, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu explained that upon receiving a distress call from Bauchi State, stakeholders met to review the situation where it was agreed that response plan had to be activated to organise logistics for the air lifting of the affected corps members.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
