JUST as Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State accused the Action Congress of Nigeria of attempting to massively manipulate the governorship election which takes off\u00a0 tomorrow\u00a0 in Oyo State, it has been alleged that the ruling party has distributed ballot papers to some of its members to take them to Oke-ogun area of the state.<\/p>\n

Vanguard gathered that the voting papers were distributed in the Government House where some were taken to the residence of a top government official close to the governor.<\/p>\n

But the Secretary of the ruling party in the state, Alhaji Bashiru Akanbi refuted the claims that the opposition was peddling that rumour because their call for the endorsement of the candidate of the ACN, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as an Ibadan indigene had boomeranged.<\/p>\n

According to the party scribe, contrary to the claims of the opposition, PDP was merely having its stakeholders meeting of the party in preparatory to the election.<\/p>\n

He added that the opposition in the state was afraid of its own shadow because they knew they had failed.<\/p>\n

Akanbi wondered why such lie could thrive when security agents including soldiers were around to\u00a0 watch\u00a0 over the voting materials adding that he was not surprised because the rumour had been rife even when INEC was yet to distribute the materials.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cIt is a lie. All the Electoral officer, Secretaries of ACN, Accord Party, ANPP and PDP are now at INEC witnessing how the materials are being distributed to the electoral officers. Besides, two police men and soldiers would escort the materials to places they are meant to be taken to. And the papers had already been serialised by INEC\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are right now in the Government House having a stakeholders meeting. You can come here now and see it. They are liars. They are only afraid of their failure. They have shot themselves in the foot by saying Ibadan people should vote for Ibadan people. Is Ibadan people only in Oyo State. That\u2019s what they said yesterday. It is not true, he explained.<\/p>\n

The accusation and counter-accusation have been the order of the day between ACN and PDP since the election started.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
