{"id":395598,"date":"2011-04-25T03:09:04","date_gmt":"2011-04-25T03:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/25\/two-year-old-infants-kidnappers-arrested\/"},"modified":"2011-04-25T03:09:04","modified_gmt":"2011-04-25T03:09:04","slug":"two-year-old-infants-kidnappers-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/25\/two-year-old-infants-kidnappers-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"Two-Year Old Infant&#8217;s Kidnappers Arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"44.0241911098\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newtimes.co.rw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/218ad26fnewtimes180.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"The New Times (Kigali)\" title=\"Visit The New Times (Kigali)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eric Kabeera<\/p>\n<p>25 April 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Police, on Saturday, arrested two suspects accused of kidnapping a two -year old girl from Gatenga in Kicukiro District.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects, identified as Charles Karekezi, 19, and Jean Pierre Uwiragiye, 30, are currently detained at Kicukiro Police Station.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, after kidnapping the infant, the duo asked the mother to pay a ransom of Rwf 400,000 to release the baby.<\/p>\n<p>They said that failure by the mother to pay the ransom would result in chopping off of the baby&#8217;s head.<\/p>\n<p>They also threatened kill her (mother) if she revealed any information about them.<\/p>\n<p>Miriam Mukakinani, the mother, said that she accepted to pay the ransom, after meeting the kidnappers in one of the nearby bushes.<\/p>\n<p>She then tipped off the police who escorted her to the rendezvous.<\/p>\n<p>After sensing that the mother might have informed the police, the suspects took off and left the baby, who was immediately discovered by a cattle keeper.
