A former employee of AIICO Insurance Company, Johnson Oke, was on Thursday arraigned for allegedly defrauding the company of N1. 2 million. Oke, 39, is also standing trial for allegedly using forged documents- in the name of his former employer- to transact business with its customers.<\/p>\n

The accused is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, fraud and forgery before an Igbosere Magistrate\u2019s court in Lagos.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor, Insp. F. Ifijen, told the court that the accused with another at large, committed the alleged offence on April 12, at AIICO Insurance Company premises on Victoria Island, Lagos. Ifijen, said that the accused issued out forged receipts to some customers of his former firm in connection to life assurance policies \u201cOke transacted with 15 customers of the insurance outfit and the total amount of his alleged illegality was N1. 2 million,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said that the offence contravened Sections 390(9), 427, 467 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Magistrate, Mr A. Adefulire admitted him to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum. Adefulire then adjourned the case till May 12 for further hearing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
