Executives of Nando\u2019s in Zimbabwe were expected to meet with the Zimbabwean government in thursday, reportedly to discuss the latest Nando\u2019s advert.<\/p>\n

According to the Nando\u2019s advert, the last dictator is Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.<\/p>\n

The advert has gone viral and is threatening to cause an international incident.<\/p>\n

In an ad campaign that\u2019s been described as both vulgar and hilarious, Nando\u2019s has incurred the wrath of the Zimbabwean president by showing him \u2013 well, a lookalike at least \u2013 cavorting with dictators.<\/p>\n

The ad has had more than 500 000 views on the NandosADS YouTube channel since it landed last week.<\/p>\n

Nando\u2019s SA marketing manager, Quinton Cronj\u00e9, said the global response had been incredibly positive, with only a few rumblings emerging from Zimbabwe, but not the rest of the continent, which also received a few jibes in the 46-second advert.<\/p>\n

The advert begins with Mugabe setting what appears to be a festive season dinner table, setting down a place mat for the late Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi.<\/p>\n

As a saddened look crosses his face, we see dreamy flashbacks of Mugabe and Gaddafi wielding water pistols in a water fight in what appears to be one of their many palatial estates.<\/p>\n

Cue the song with the lyrics: \u201cThose were the days, my friend\u201d and shots of Mugabe making sand angels with Saddam Hussein, and a tribute to the Titanic with Idi Amin.<\/p>\n

And who can forget the karaoke scene with Mao Zedong?<\/p>\n

The scene fades back to the present and we see \u201cThe Last Dictator Standing\u201d. Mugabe sits alone at his dinner table after many of his implied dictator \u201cbuddies\u201d have been removed from power or killed over the past decade.<\/p>\n

The tagline? \u201cThis time of year, no one should have to eat alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Militant youth groups supporting Mugabe yesterday called for a boycott of the restaurant worldwide. – The Star<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
