{"id":388055,"date":"2011-04-22T08:14:14","date_gmt":"2011-04-22T08:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/22\/ane-to-repair-more-than-765-km-of-roads-this-year\/"},"modified":"2011-04-22T08:14:14","modified_gmt":"2011-04-22T08:14:14","slug":"ane-to-repair-more-than-765-km-of-roads-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/22\/ane-to-repair-more-than-765-km-of-roads-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"ANE to Repair More Than 765 Km of Roads This Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"36.5882520673\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.poptel.org.uk\/mozambique-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/caf6aim180.jpg\" alt=\"Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique (Maputo)\" title=\"Visit Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique (Maputo)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>21 April 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Maputo \u2014 Mozambique&#8217;s National Road Administration (ANE) will repair over 765 kilometres of road this year at a cost of 153 million US dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The national road network will benefit from 580 kilometres of repairs, with the remaining repairs being carried out on regional roads.<\/p>\n<p>This information was given by the director general of ANE, Cecilio Grachane, who was speaking at a meeting to assess progress in implementing the Integrated Road Sector Programme (PRISE).<\/p>\n<p>ANE expects to carry out routine maintenance work on 19,600 kilometres of roads by the end of next December, at a cost of 92 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The ANE is supervising several major road works.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, in the south of the country, the 96 kilometre stretch of Mozambique&#8217;s main north-south highway (EN1) linking the city of Xai-Xai in Gaza province with the town of Chissibuca in Inhambane province should be completed in May.<\/p>\n<p>Work is also taking place along the southernmost stretch of EN1 in Maputo city between the Jardim and Benfica neighbourhoods at a cost of around 22 million US dollars. This work should be completed by the end of July.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, work is to begin this month on repairing and modernising the road between Canicado and Chicualacuala, in Gaza province. The 322 kilometre stretch will take 30 months to repair at a cost of about 125 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, negotiations are underway between the mining company Riverside and the ANE over the need to divert the main road from Tete to Zambia, which runs straight through the place where Riversdale wants to start mining.
